Media and Court have been closely related during the pandemic period. There have been two parties, like always. One that supports the technique Media reports and the other that is in complete in opposition of the other.

The recent Arnab Goswami’s arrest was the only running news on all mediums. The Republic TV Editor was arrest in a 2018 abetment of suicide case of an Interior Designer Anvay Naik. A lot of media-men reported the case and Goswami was arrested in a way that people did not expect his easy return. But, within 6 days, Arnab was a free bird released from the Taloja jail on bail. Apart from that, Goswami was bashed for the way he was reporting the Sushant Singh Rajput case.

On the other hand, when Kumal Kamra tweeted that “Honour has left the building (Supreme Court) long back and “The Supreme Court of this Country is the most Supreme joke of this country,” a contempt court was rewarded to Kamra because of the Freedom of Speech he exercised on the Social Media platform.

In general, cases have shown that true news and journalists have been disliked by people on whom the stories are made. Journalists are facing harassment and at the same time, anti-social journalism is running its businesses well.

Mr. Vinod Wagh, Assistant Professor VPM’s TMC Law College, Thane, has written to the Chief Justice of India, Hon’ble Justice Shri. Sharad A Bobade, focusing on the Neutralism of the Press in the country. The Letter is filled with facts, proofs and examples that might be helpful in order to view the actual situation of Journalism in the country.

Giving a glimpse of what is in the letter:

“This letter, therefore humbly prays this court to issues certain guidelines whereby the journalists must feel safe for true journalism and must have a fear for fake and communal journalism. The self-restrictions of press seem to be not working,”
Vinod Wagh writes.
