India has seen a downward trend the last two months in its per day Covid-19 cases on Monday. Total coronavirus cases in India rose by 55,342 on Monday to 7.18 million on Tuesday morning, the lowest daily rise since mid-August, data from the health ministry showed. 77,760 covid patients have been cured in India on Monday, taking the total recoveries in India to 62,27,295 cases.
706 deaths on Monday led to a rise in the death numbers to 109,856 on Tuesday, the ministry said.
Reaching the 7 million mark on Sunday, the country has added a million cases in just 13 days. India stands behind United States of America being the second-most infected patients with Covid-19. United States is reaching its 8 million mark where India is at its 7.18 million mark.
Total number of samples tested up to 12th October is 8,89,45,107 including 10,73,014 samples tested yesterday, showed ICMR data.
India is showing a trend of declining average daily cases over the past 5 weeks.

For the fifth day in a row, active cases have remained below nine lakh, taking the country’s recovery rate to 86.8 per cent.

Maharashtra tops the list of the most infected state followed by Karnataka and Kerala on number 2 and 3, respectively. Tamil Nadu stands fourth. But, the daily caseload of these states has significantly reduced with the exception of West Bengal (3,583). The eastern state has been reporting its highest ever 24-hour percentage rise in cases on Monday. Together these states account for 52.5 per cent of all cases in the country.
Maximum deaths have also been reported from these states plus Uttar Pradesh, which collected accounted for nearly 57 per cent of all mortalities.
Talking about Maharashtra, which is the most affected state in the country, Maharashtra’s Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that excluding a few activities, everything has been opened up by the government under its Mission Begin Again — a plan to unlock activities—and rest of the restrictions will probably be lifted in phases by November-end hinting that everything will be open by the end of the eleventh month.
Selected tourism centers in Kerala are set to be opened in two phases with strict SOP’s in order to run the economy of the area by the Government.
