Bengaluru : A court in the Tumakuru district of Karnataka on Friday has directed the police to lodge an FIR or First Information Report against actress Kangana Ranaut over her tweets allegedly slamming the farmers protesting against the farm laws.  The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court directed the inspector of Kyathasandra police station to register an FIR against the actress based on a complaint by a lawyer L Ramesh Naik.

“The office is hereby directed to issue intimation to the circle police inspector of Kyathasandra police station along with (a) photostat copy of the complaint for report,” the court ordered.

The court said the complainant had filed an application under section 156(3) of the CrPC for investigation. L Ramesh Naik, the lawyer spoke to news agency PTI announcing that the court had directed the jurisdictional police station to register an FIR and investigate the case.

 “People who spread misinformation and rumours about CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) that caused riots are the same people who are now spreading misinformation about Farmers bill and causing terror in the nation, they are terrorists,” she tweeted on September 21.

Naik has said that the tweet has hurt him and it prompted him to file a case against the actress.

Kangana Ranaut has been in the headlines over the past few months for taking on the Bollywood film industry, criticising the Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra government and the demolition of her office by the BMC.
