The Maharashtra State Government announced a hike in the toll charges at five entry points of Mumbai from October 1. The toll hike triggered commoners and even the Raj Thackeray led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s (MNS) workers to raise a voice against the doing.
To show their disapproval for the hike, MNS workers assembled at the Airoli toll booth in neighbouring Navi Mumbai and screamed slogans against the state government’s decision.

Local residents were even more furious about the hike as the toll charges have been increased for all and no one is spared.
“Mumbai residents are free from toll taxes and are seen using flyovers and on the contrary, Navi Mumbai citizens have been paying for all tolls and still have to pay more for the same,”
Brian D’Souza, 42, a motorist residing in Sanpada, told this to Hindustan Times.
The local unit of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena was seen protesting at the Airoli naka which is an exit point of Navi Mumbai. The police later dispersed the protestors.
