On Saturday, a Government Resolution was issued that has made it mandatory for the government as well as non-government employees to use ‘Vande Mataram’ as a greeting instead of ‘Hello’ while on calls with government officials or citizens.
The resolution also says that awareness must be created by the officials among the people to exchange greetings as ‘Vande Mataram’. The resolution was issued by the General Administration Department.
The government resolution says that ‘hello’ – as a greeting, imitates the Western culture. It says that ‘hello’ is just a “greeting without any specific meaning and does not evoke any affection.”
