From October 1, the minimum fare will be raised by Rs.3 for taxis and Rs.2 for auto rickshaws. Currently, the fare price for a taxi is Rs.25 and that for auto rickshaws is Rs.21. From October 1, the minimum fare will be Rs.28 for taxis and Rs.23 for auto rickshaws respectively.
The leader of Mumbai Taximen’s Union, Anthony Quadros said, “The state government agreed for a revision in the fare of taxis and auto-rickshaws on Friday after approval from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority.”
Last week, an indefinite strike was called by the MTU on September 26, but now the strike has been withdrawn. It was last year in March 2021 when the fares were increased from Rs.22 to Rs.25 for taxis and Rs.18 to Rs.21 for auto rickshaws.
