Neolacta Life Sciences has been barred by the Ministry of Ayush from making products from human milk. The company has lost its license too. Five products were being manufactured and sold by Neolacta Life Sciences, including the products of human breast milk under the name ‘PHBM 70’, human milk powder under the name ‘NeoLact70, and NeoLact 70 Prime.’
These products were sold as an alternative to when the baby needed extra calories or when the mother’s milk was unavailable. To help the mothers fortify their milk to feed the child – mother’s milk fortifier was also sold by the company under the name ‘NeoLactMMF and NeoLactMMF Plus.’
The rules and regulations of FSSAI does not cover the sale of human milk or even its commercial processing.
