It has been held by the High Court of Madras that Allopathy medicine can be practiced by qualified Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani doctors if they are trained well in the system. However, they cannot practice it exclusively.
Justice RMT Teekaa Raman, after quoting a 2010 circular issued by TN Health and Family Welfare Department said, “It has already been held that institutionally qualified practitioners of Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani, who are registered with the Tamil Nadu Board of Indian Medicine, are eligible to practice in the respective systems (along) with Allopathy based on training and teaching they had in the course.”
