On Wednesday, Mumbai recorded a big surge in the number of Covid cases. After almost four months, the city has crossed the 700 mark. On the other hand, Maharashtra has crossed the 1,000 mark. In a matter of 24 hours, Maharashtra has seen a spike of 52% whereas Mumbai has seen a spike of 46% over the numbers of Tuesday.
In view of the monsoon season coming closer, all the civic departments have been directed by Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal to raise the guard for Covid by preparing jumbo hospitals, ward war rooms and also to increase testing in every ward. He has also directed to boost the vaccination coverage among the teenagers.
On Wednesday, 739 fresh cases were detected which was the highest in 117 days. After this, the daily positivity rate stands at 8.4%.
