On Friday, the Pune Unit of Raj Thackeray’s MNS threatened to play Hanuman Chalisa outside police stations in Pune if the police fails to take down the loudspeakers from mosques.

In a letter by Pune MNS General Secretary Hemant Sambush to Amitabh Gupta – police commissioner of Pune, the letter said “We were directed by the MNS Chief to keep the agitation going till loudspeakers were removed from mosques. Loudspeakers are a social issue and we do not want to create a religious rift about it,” quoted The Print

The letter stated “We are not against azaan, but we are adamant that it should not be done on loudspeakers. The maulvi of all these mosques should inform us in writing through the police that they have removed or stopped azaan on loudspeakers, so that the law and order shouldn’t be disturbed,” quoted The Print.
