In view of the ongoing controversy of the usage of loudspeakers, section 144 of the CrPC has been imposed in Aurangabad till May 9. The reason for this prohibitory order to be imposed is the rally to be held by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray’s on May 1.

On May 1, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray will be holding a rally in Aurangabad to protest against azaan on loudspeakers over the mosques. Moreover, Raj Thackeray had also given an ultimatum to the government of Maharashtra to put a ban on loudspeakers in Masjids and had asked the government to act on this till May 3.

Raj Thackeray had warned in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park saying “Why are loudspeakers in mosques played at such a high volume? If this is not stopped, there will be speakers outside mosques playing Hanuman Chalisa at higher volume.”

On the contrary, Sanjay Raut had hit out at MNS Chief saying that his statements were scripted and sponsored by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
