Compared to the previous couple of weeks, the state has seen a slight rise in the number of the Covid deaths. Pune reported the majority. The number of daily deaths between March 16 and April 4 has not gone above 4; however the number rose to seven on 6th, six on the 7th, four on 8th and lastly, six on 9th. On Sunday, the number reached zero.

The State Health Officials gave the reason of ‘delayed reporting’ from a few centres in Pune. In March, 77 deaths were reported from the state. In April’s first 10 days, the toll was 33.

A state health official has said that there is no reason to panic with the XE variant (combination of Omicron’s BA.1 and BA.2 variant) because India was exposed to both the variants in early January.
