The Shree Varshney College in Aligarh has issued a notice banning the entry of students who are not wearing the prescribed uniform; Muslim girls wearing hijab have been refused to enter the college campus. The college has directed the students not to cover their faces while they are attending class. As the students were denied entry, several students returned home.
Beena Upadhyay, the Administrative officer of the college has said that the notice is a reminder to the students that they have to follow a particular dress code prescribed to them, as reported by The Times Of India.
This college is one of the eminent colleges and is affiliated to Dr. BR Ambedkar University, Agra. As per the authorities, the college has 7000 students out of which 60% are women including 250 Muslim students.
