In the past 24 hours, the city reported 1,857 fresh Covid infections, which is nearly 700 less than the cases recorded the previous day. Moreover, Mumbai also reported 503 recoveries and 11 deaths in the same period. The total number of active cases in the city has risen up to 21,142.
On Sunday, Mumbai registered 2,550 new Covid cases. This was the fourth consecutive day when the cases dropped in the city.
On Monday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) informed that as many as 248 out of 280 samples sent for genome sequencing in the city have been detected with the Omicron variant.
Out of the 280 samples from the BMC limits, 34% patients were in the 21-40 age group, 28% were in the 41-60 age group, 69 patients were in the 61-80 age group and 22 were in the 0-20 age group and 5% were in the 81- plus bracket.
