On Friday, the Supreme Court stayed the operation of the Delhi HC that had issued a set of guidelines to feed stray dogs after holding that the citizens have the right to feed stray dogs.
The HC’s order was stayed by a division bench comprising Justices Vineet Saran and Aniruddha Bose on a petition filed by an NGO ‘Humane Foundation for People and Animals’ challenging it.
Moreover, the bench also has issued notices to the Animal Welfare Board of India, the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, and also the other private respondents in the special leave petition.
