Recently, at Aurangabad, the Bombay High Court Bench refused to quash the criminal proceedings under charges of rape and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against a man who did not want to marry a woman on the ground that she was from a different caste.

Additionally, the High Court said that the man’s promise to marry her and then indulging into a sexual intercourse amounted to a “false promise”.

A bench of Justices Vishwas Jadhav and Sandipkumar More was hearing a plea filed by Ganesh Suryawanshi who was seeking to quash the criminal proceedings pending against him in front of a special court in Aurangabad.
