On Sunday, UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar said that the students pursuing Ph.D. degrees will not be allowed to pursue two academic degrees at the same time under UGC. But, students from other courses including diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate courses can pursue two degrees in physical mode or open or distance mode for which the guidelines were issued in April, the Chairman added.
All educational institutions were given a letter by the UGC which said, “Besides, a student can pursue two academic programmes – one in full time physical mode and another in open and distance learning (ODL)/online mode, or up to two ODL/online programmes simultaneously.”
