As many as 58 services related to motor-vehicle – that includes applying for learners’ licenses, and transfer of vehicle ownership can be done online now, notified the government. On Friday, it was notified by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) that the mentioned services can be availed through online means.
With the help of an Aadhaar card as well as on a voluntary basis, the services can be availed. This move will take away the need to pay a visit to the Regional Transport Office (RTO).
MoRTH said, “Provided that any person who does not have an Aadhaar number may avail such service in physical form by establishing the identity by submitting an alternative document physically with respective Authority as per the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) 1989.”
