No religious clothes in schools, Karnataka CM cites HC order

CM Basavaraj Bommai stated that the Karnataka HC has ordered that no religious clothes should be worn by the students and he also announced that the classes for grades 9 and 10 will reopen on Friday.

The CM told that “A three-judge bench has ordered that to maintain peace, no religious clothes should be worn in colleges.”

The Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana has said that the Supreme Court will take up the matter at an “appropriate time.”

The Karnataka Government, on Friday, said that the holiday announced to universities belonging to the Department of Higher Education and colleges coming under the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education has been extended till February 16.

State Higher Education Minister CN Ashwath Narayan said in a statement that the examinations will be conducted as scheduled and it has been directed to conduct online classes.
