It was a hectic Saturday for the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Mumbai. The NCB raided a bakery in Malad, Mumbai that was allegedly selling cakes made of Marijuana and pot. The bakery was allegedly making cakes laced with marijuana and pot, and the NCB then seized 830 grams of edible weed pot brownie and 160 grams of marijuana (ganja). Three persons, including one woman, were arrested during the raid.
Orlem in Malad East is the said bakery.
The source of the drugs to the bakery is not yet disclosed by the NCB. It was reported that the narcotic substances were being delivered by placing them inside the cakes and pastries to avoid any obvious suspicion.
After reaching the bakery, the products would then delivered in high-profile areas.
As per a statement given by NCB Zonal Director (Mumbai) Sameer Wankhede, he said that this was the “first case in India” in which cannabis-based food products were seized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
Information for the raid that took place late-night raid on the bakery in Malad was obtained by the NCB’s zonal unit.
As reported by Indian Express, an NCB official said that todays youngsters are following a new trend if consuming substances through brownie weed pot cakes, which have been mixed with narcotics and baked accordingly.
What is Weed Pot?
It is a food product which is either homemade or commercially produced which contains cannabis extract as an active ingredient.
Edible weed pots are a way to consume cannabis, the official said.
Cannabis are nothing but drugs and if consumed in Edibles, affects people more than the Smoked ones.
The NCB official said that any food that contains butter, oil, milk, or any fatty substance can be used to infuse marijuana. He added, “One may not be able to distinguish between regular baked goods and those containing cannabinoids, which tend to have a slightly green tinge and often emit a faint cannabis smell.”
