Mumbai witnesses a drop in cases, positivity rate indicate third wave could be flattening

On Tuesday, the daily Covid cases in the city dropped to 11,647 and registered a 14.66% drop over Monday. Moreover, there is a plunge in the test positivity rate from 23% to 18% within a span of 24 hours. Out of 59,242 tests done on January 10, 13,648 patients were detected with the Covid-19 virus.

Despite a surge of testing to 62,097 on January 11, the cases have dropped to 11,647. Also, the bed coverage has dropped from 21% to 19.9% in the same period of time.

There has been a sharp drop in cases over the past four days from 20,700 to 11,647. According to the BMC, the third Covid wave began on 21st December 2021 and has claimed 46 deaths in 22 days in Mumbai.
