There has been a demand from the commuters to lower the train ticket fares for which the Mumbai local AC trains have got their fares dropped by 50%.
On April 29, the Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Danve had announced a 50% reduction of fares of the AC local of Mumbai. The revised fare of AC as well as non AC first class tickets have come into effect from May 5.
The current fare of Rs.65 for a 5km distance have come down to Rs.30. The announcement was made by the Minister of state for railways during the inauguration of a restored heritage building of Byculla railways station along with the presence of Maharashtra leader of opposition Devendra Fadnavis.
