In view of the decrease in the number of Covid cases in the third wave, the BMC has put a stop to mass testing at public places like beaches and stations. The reflection of the decrease in cases can be seen from 70,000 in early January to nearly 20,000 in the past few days.
BMC executive health officer, Dr. Mangala Gomare has said “There are no clusters or high-risk areas in Mumbai at the moment, and the number of daily cases is between 100 and 200.”
The BMC said, there were 16,476 tests on February 20, whilst on February 21, 20,889 tests were done and on Tuesday, the number rose to 24,772.
In March 2020, ever since the pandemic began, more than 16 crore tests have been done.
