Voters in New Jersey and Arizona legalized marijuana for recreational use on Tuesday, and in Oregon approved the country’s first therapeutic use for psilocybin, the hallucinogenic drug known as magic mushrooms.
An important part of Phil Murphy’s campaign in the 2020 elections was the legalization of recreational marijuana. Murphy took to Twitter wrote “Public Question #1 to legalize adult use of marijuana passed overwhelmingly tonight, a huge step forward for racial and social justice and our economy. Thank you @NJCAN 2020 and all the advocates for standing on the right side of the history.”
As per the amendment that will come into effect after the legalization those under 21 and older can purchase and use marijuana.
