What made you write the book ‘PEOPLONOMICS’?

Success for many is the number of accolades and the amount of money that a working individual can accumulate during his time in the corporate world. Therefore, the life of many of us revolves only around those places where they are able to prove and earn. There is not anything wrong with this, but how we do this matters a lot. You would see many people who have everything that they want, yet the sense of satisfaction is not there. They struggle for peace of mind. That is one of the core issues that the book tries to address. This it does, by bringing every working individual in any place of work into a simple 2×2 matrix and defining them as Creator, Paper-ppl, Muddler, and Sloggers. The book vehemently says that designations are not people. If we look at people from the pretext of designations, then we could be seriously misled. PEOPLONOMICS, published by Locksley Hall Publishing, tries to remove the veil of designation and makes the reader look at people from the perspective of who they really are. You may think a person to be a Vice President, while all that he is a slogger. If, however, your desire to be a Vice President and follow the footstep of the person whom you idealize then there is a high chance that you too could become a slogger who is designated as Vice President. This is what happens with many of the people in the corporate world. This book is an attempt to tell them to know with clarity the people with who they work and who they work for. Ultimately, the kind of people you befriend in the place of work is the reason because of which you either struggle or succeed.

How did you arrive at the name PEOPLONOMICS as the title of your book?

According to me, the initial title of the book was ‘The Four People In The Organization.’ Had it not been for, Suhail Mathur (The Book Bakers), that would have been the title. But, he said that the name was too lengthy and I must try to look for a simpler title, maybe a word or a two a max. A book that is 45,000 words to be bear a title of one or two words was a task on its own. After a lot of brainstorming, I came across the title PEOPLONOMICS. It actually takes its name from economics. The dictionary defines economics as the study or principles of the way money, business, and industry are organized. PEOPLONOMICS is the way in which people from the place of work are organized. The book tries to build on the statement that “People’s success is as important as economic success.”

What is the most difficult part about writing for you?

According to writing a piece for anyone is a very involved process. We have to stick to the subject and then fill up the word intelligently. If we see closely in most stories that has been written till date and that will be written in the future as well, there is a hero and a villain. When the story ends good prevails, the hero wins. That’s it. Then what is the differentiating factor? It’s is what I believe, the way you say it. For a non-fiction writer such as me, I had to stick to reality as much as I could. The book has been written in such a way, that the person who is reading it should feel as if, it is his story. Moreover, there has to be a flow in the story. I had a major challenge in creating and maintaining the flow. I only hope that people who read are able to connect with the book and also its characters.

What will a reader take away from the book?

Irrespective of who you are – a creator, paper-ppl, a muddler, or a slogger; as long as a working individual is building his career path on the pillars of values and principal, he will always find success and peace.

Writing can be an emotionally draining and stressful pursuit. Any tips for aspiring writers?

The mind is always wandering and wavering. It keeps on imagining and sometimes reaches a point after which it starts forming a whirlpool. We start getting lost in so many thoughts. Some of these thoughts are so compelling that we want them to be a part of the piece that we are writing, even though it is not connected to the subject. This is something that should be avoided. There are possibilities it may lead to deviation for the point that you want to make. This is not desired at all. It is usually said to control your thoughts, but if I were asked, I would say give direction to your thoughts. That way you can build an intriguing storyline. A statement, that has to be deeply engraved that – it’s not your story. Any book that will be written with the audience as the hero will have a better chance of survival.

What difference will PEOPLONOMICS make to the people who read it?

People struggle and by overcoming one they reach the next level of struggle. If we look at a person who is at the pinnacle of success and think that he is not struggling, then we are wrong. He too is struggling but the kind of struggle that he has is different from the one that you are having, but if the struggle that you having is the same every day, then there is definitely something wrong with you. This is what the book is going to do. It is going to make the reader think, how is he losing by fighting trifle battles in life. It will reveal to him the true self that has been hidden within him for ages. Once he knows, who he is, shall the transformation process begin.

When is your next book coming?

There is still time. Currently, a lot to be done with PEOPLONOMICS. This book can contribute immensely and it’s my duty to ensure that it reaches the masses. Till the time, I have not done justice to PEOPLONOMICS, I will not write the next book. But, yes I know what I have to write. The thought is already planted in the mind. I am yet to commence the research of the project. All that I can say is that, my next book will revolutionize the way the human race has been looking at “POWER.”
