India vaccinated 80 Lakh+ citizens in 24 hours; Highest ever recorded in the World

Indians are quite associated with the word FREE! We ask for free Dhaniya from the vegetable vendor and enjoy visiting places where we get free Food. And, probably, the Prime Minister of the country seems to understand this side of the citizens – hence, the FREE Vaccine Drive.

Jokes apart! India started its Free Vaccination Drive on the occasion of World Yoga Day i.e. 21st June 2021. 

Not just this but, individual didn’t have to register at the very controversial Cowin portal either which made it better for them to go and stand in queues. 

On Monday, after the Free Vaccination drive began, India administered 80 lakh+ coronavirus vaccine doses. This was by far the highest single day vaccine jab count in the WORLD.

“Today’s record-breaking vaccination numbers are gladdening. The vaccine remains our strongest weapon to fight COVID-19. Congratulations to those who got vaccinated and kudos to all the front-line warriors working hard to ensure so many citizens got the vaccine. Well done India!” 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on the occasion.

Since day one of the vaccination drive in India that started on 16th January, this is the highest number so far. The figure is also almost double the earlier record of 43 lakh vaccines administered in April, reports said. Plus, as per data, 61.54 lakh doses were given to people of the 18-44 age group on Monday.

Earlier on Monday, PM Modi tweeted:

“Central Government is beginning the ‘Free Vaccination For All campaign’ for every Indian from today. The biggest beneficiary of this phase of India’s vaccination drive shall be the poor, the middle class and the youth of the country. All of us should pledge to get ourselves vaccinated. Together we will defeat COVID-19.”

NDA ruled states performed outstandingly in ramping up vaccination numbers, accounting for around 70 per cent of all vaccinations done on Monday.

As reported by News18, the Union health ministry data says that five BJP-ruled states such as Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Haryana took a lead by conducting special vaccination drives.

Madhya Pradesh vaccinated 15 lakh people on Monday followed by Karnataka that vaccinated 10 lakh individuals.

UP, Gujarat, Haryana were other leaders who vaccinated around 5 lakh people each and Maharashtra also vaccinated around 3.6 lakh people.

On the other hand, Punjab, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Delhi were unable to cross the 1 lakh mark.
