Let’s get to know more about the author and the novel –
Tell us about your journey to writing the book.
My ultimate goal is to get the award of the best film director in the Indian film industry. I can’t and don’t want to leave my noble profession. And, to become a director you need to work on the film sets to understand filmmaking. I came to know that the screenwriters usually stay on the sets and knowing that point I started writing films and penned down nine films and three web series in three years. I had kept buzzing Mumbai in-between to meet producers and directors. But, Covid outbreaks had made the filmmaking sluggish. I was staying on the hospital campus away from my parents. During the first wave, after duty hours, I started penning down Murdrum which was written as a web series earlier.

What inspired you to write Murdrum?
I was always inclined towards thrillers. And, last year I encountered an article on serial killer Harold Shipman who had killed around 250 women. And, he was a doctor. Gradually, I started studying all the serial killers all over the world and tried to understand their psychology. Later, I was aware of some bizarre yet incredible advancements in forensic science. I had my agonist and protagonists. I also had an extraordinary suspenseful climax in my mind for so long. I just clubbed all things and started penning down Murdrum.
Why did you choose the title Murdrum?
For that, you have to read the novel. There are certain fascinating reasons to set the title Murdrum which I don’t want to reveal at this stage.
Are you planning any sequel?
Yes, this novel will be released in two parts. The second part I have already written. I can realize it anytime as per my wish.
What else do you have in your portfolio?
I have one psychological thriller clubbed with mythology and science-fiction which I’ll release next year. But, before that, I may release a story on woman empowerment that is closest to my heart.
