A ‘Dharam Sansad’ held in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur triggered a row after Hindu religious leader Kalicharan Maharaj hailed Nathuram Godse for killing Mahatma Gandhi.
The two-day gathering came to an abrupt end on Sunday after one of its main patrons, Ram Sundar Maharaj, walked off the stage in protest against the abusive words used for Mahatma Gandhi.
Speaking at the Dharam Sansad held at Ravan Bhata ground in Raipur on Sunday, Kalicharan Maharaj alleged that “the target of Islam is to capture the nation through politics.” He also said, “I salute Nathuram Godse that he killed Gandhi.”
The Raipur Dharam Sansad was held just days after a religious assembly in Haridwar made headlines over provocative and communal speeches made by Hindu religious leaders against minority communities during the event.
