According to a document filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Elon Musk has purchased a 9.2% stake of the social media giant ‘Twitter’. In the premarket trading, Twitter shares jumped as much as 26%. Elon Musk has bought around 73.5 million shares.
The shareholdings of Elon Musk is four times higher than 2.25% stake held by the founder of Twitter, Jack Dorsey.
This big announcement has come a few days after Elon Musk held a twitter poll and asked his users if they believed whether Twitter adheres to free speech that is important to a well-functioning democracy. Last month, Musk tweeted “The consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully.”
