In a major successful feat amidst the increasing tensions with China, India on Saturday 3rd October successfully test-fired a new version of nuclear capable Shaurya missile. The tests were conducted at the coast of Odisha and it is said that the missile can strike targets at around 800 kms.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has been working towards completion of the total self-dependence in the sector of strategic missiles and has enhanced its work further, after the call of Aatmanirbhar Bharat by Prime Minister Modi.
The new version missile was test-fired successfully and will be apparently drafted in the strategic forces to assist one of the existing missiles in the same category. Sources stated that ,”The missile would be lighter and easier to operate in comparison with the existing missile.” Sources further stated,”In the last phase while moving close to its target, the missile moves at hypersonic speeds.”
India also flourishingly testfired the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile which can hit targets at over 400 km strike range which is at least more than 100 kms from the previous capability of the missile.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took to Twitter and wrote,

This achievement will give a big boost to India’s #AtmaNirbharBharat Pledge.”

PM Modi also congratulated DRDO and tweeted,”Brahmos Supersonic Cruise Missile has achieved yet another milestone with successful test launch showcasing enhanced operational capabilities and additional indigenous technologies.
