Key Points:
- Delhi’s Air is polluted to the extreme level since the last week.
- Winter and Stubble Burning are said to be the major reasons for this situation.
- The Covid-19 numbers have also gone up due to breathing problems caused by the Pollution.
- SAFAR (System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research) and India Meteorological Department (IMD) have said that the air quality will continue to be in the ‘severe’ category for a few days.
Delhi is almost unseen in the extremely polluted air that the capital is seeing since last week. The yearly crop burning rituals have been the largest contributors to this happening. The Air quality of the city has fallen to new lows in the month of November which has almost reduced the visibility levels and apparently increasing the pollutants in the air that are breathed by the residents every minute.
The average air quality index in Delhi was recorded at 477 on a scale of 500, the highest since November 3 last year, in the severe zone. This was the fifth consecutive day when Delhi’s air was in the severe category. The last time when the air stayed still in the severe category was in the year 2016 – 2017.
