A well-known electric bus manufacturer has received an order of 123 e-buses at a price of Rs.185 crore. The first bus looks to be delivered by October – next month. The buses will be maintained by the supplier for the coming 15 years.
From the 123 buses, 71 buses will be Air Conditioned and the remaining buses will be non-AC buses. 55 buses will have a seating capacity of 33 passengers and 68 buses will have a seating capacity of 23 passengers. Both the buses will also have a standing capacity of 13-15 passengers.
For the time being, there are 364 buses running on 1-5 routes by the TMC.
The OLECTRA spokesperson said, “An Olectra Greentech Limited (OLECTRA) and Evey Trans Private Limited (EVEY) consortium has received a letter of award from TMC in this regard. The buses will be supplied on Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model basis, for a period of 15 years. EVEY Trans will procure the Electric Buses from Olectra Greentech and they will be delivered in nine months, with the first bus likely to reach Thane next month.”
