On Wednesday – a day after the state government was threatened by Raj Thackeray to take down loudspeakers till May 3, Maharashtra CM Ajit Pawar said that these threats must not be given importance.
Ajit Pawar said “Raj Thackeray must not be given so much importance. When the right time comes, I will surely answer it. I have answers for every question.”
On the other hand, the state government was warned by Congress’s Sanjay Nirupam that it would be a matter of great shame to remove loudspeakers even from a single mosque.
On Tuesday, Raj Thackeray reiterated his call to take down the loudspeakers, and he also gave an ultimatum to the state government. He said “Loudspeakers in mosques should be shut till May 3rd otherwise, we will play Hanuman Chalisa in speakers. This is a social issue, not a religious one. I want to tell the state government I will not go back on this subject, do whatever you want to do.”
