E-pass mandatory for inter-district travel in Maharashtra. Details explained

E-pass is an electronically generated travel pass which has been made mandatory for road journey outside an individual’s current district. This E-pass has been made mandatory due to various Covid related restrictions imposed across Maharashtra.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR AN E-PASS? 

The ones who want to travel outside their districts are required to apply for an E-pass. The ones who are exempted from this requirement are Government servants who travel for official purposes and the ones who are involved in emergency services.

Currently, Maharashtra citizens can travel outside districts only for limited emergency reasons. The reasons include extreme medical emergency, death of first relative, marriage, etc.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Online application has to be made on covid19.mhpolice.in

From here, the application will be moved to local police jurisdiction for processing as per the place of origin chosen by the applicant.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPLICATION

  • Valid identity proof
  • Medical fitness certificate
  • Wedding cards / marriage related documents
  • Medical report of people travelling for medical emergency
  • Death certificate in case of death
  • Document pertaining to other emergency purposes

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR AN E-PASS TO BE ISSUED?

To process the applications, every police jurisdiction has formed dedicated cells. Officials have said that they are attempting to clear the application at the earliest and latest by one day prior to the travel date.

MAIN REASON BEHIND E-PASS REJECTION

  • Attachment of invalid or inadequate documents
  • Non-attachment of medical fitness certificate
  • Excess number of co-passengers than the prescribed limit as per government norms
  • Incomplete form
  • Non-attachment of photos or attachment of unclear photos.
