There has been no official confirmed case of the XE variant in India. On Wednesday, the BMC announced the first case of the XE variant. However, the Central Government did not agree with the findings.
What is the XE variant?
The XE variant is a combination of BA.1 and the BA.2 Omicron varieties. It has also got the tag of being more transmissible than any other strain of Covid-19. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), this variant is transmissible by 10% than the BA.2 variety.

“Given the current high level of transmission worldwide, it is likely that further variants, including recombinants will continue to emerge.”
