Former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe who was particularly famous for his global relations and economic policies also termed as Abenomics stepped down from his post in the midst of his tenure as he was suffering from ulcerative colitis which happens to be an inflammatory bowel disease. Following the resignation, the Japanese government was in a hurry to find a successor to the seat of the Prime Minister .

Potential successors had already emerged, including Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, and LDP policy chief Fumio Kishida, who was speculated to be Mr Abe’s choice. Now after a parliamentary vote, Yoshihide Suga won with a majority and is elected as the successor of Shinzo Abe for the designation of Prime Minister. Suga had been chosen as leader of the ruling party on Monday, virtually confirming his succession. Mr. Yoshihide being the Chief Cabinet Secretary was also coined as the right-hand man of Mr. Shinzo Abe.

As of Wednesday, he plans to launch his own Cabinet of Ministers.Suga promising to serve the interests of ordinary people and rural communities has stressed his background as a farmer’s son and a self-made politician. With the selection, Yoshihide Suga becomes the 99th Prime Minister of Japan.

Allies and Neighbors of the Japanese territory congratulated Mr. Suga on his succession.

Our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi took to the online platform Twitter to convey his regards which stated,

“Heartiest congratulations to Excellency Yoshihide Suga on the appointment as Prime Minister of Japan @kantei. I look forward to jointly taking our Special Strategic and Global Partnership to new heights. @sugawitter.

“Nepal’s Prime Minister Mr. KP Sharma Oli wrote,“Heartiest congratulations to Your Excellency Yoshihide Suga @sugawitter on your appointment as the Prime Minister of Japan.Look forward to working closely to deepen and widen friendly ties and partnership between our two countries.”

Australian Prime Minister Mr. Scott Morrison also congratulated Mr. Suga,

“Warm congratulations to HE Mr Suga Yoshihide @sugawitter on his appointment as Prime Minister of Japan. Our two countries have a great friendship and I look forward to deepening the Australia-Japan Special Strategic Partnership and our cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.”

Mr. Shinzo Abe had great relations with many countries in the Indo-Pacific region and the ties with India were and are strengthening with every passing day. All countries are keenly observing  the changes that will come to the table with Mr. Suga taking the designation.
