Won’t arrest Param Bir Singh till October 21 in FIR under SC/ST Act, Maharashtra Government tells Bombay High Court

On Friday, the Bombay High Court adjourned to October 20 for the former Police Commissioners Paran Bir Singh’s plea to quash the Thane police’s FIR under the SC/ST Act which is the prevention of atrocities on the complaint of a subordinate officer. 

APP JP Yagnik, who is the council of the Maharashtra Government, agreed not to arrest Param Bir Singh till October 21, already extending the original protection statement of the State from May 24. 

The investigation still continues from the Thane Police for the case against Param Bir Singh and 32 others for the various offences under the SC/ST Act, Civil Rights Protection Act, Maharashtra Police Act and the IPC.

Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, on Friday, has mentioned the matter before the bench of Justices SS Shinde and NJ Jamadar. The state has assured that there won’t be any coercive steps taken against Param Bir Singh till October 21.
