Covid-19 cases are rising in Maharashtra and the city as well for which the cabinet minister Aslam Shaikh said that “It is a matter of concern that daily cases in the state are nearly 500 after being less than 150 a few weeks ago,” reported the Times Of India. He also said that “Even during the last wave, cases had first started increasing in Mumbai. So, we have to remain alert.”
In April, daily hospitalisations had dropped to one digit but now, they have doubled in a matter of three days.
He added that if there is a constant rise in the cases then the situation will be reviewed by the state and restrictions will be brought back along with compulsory wearing of masks in public areas.
The active cases in the state have climbed to 2,175 from which 1,531 cases are from Mumbai.
