“It’ll be challenging, but fun”, said senior actor Paresh Rawal who is appointed as the new chief of National School of Drama. The NSD also shared an excerpt in their tweet welcoming him.

This announcement was made by Minister of Culture Prahlad Singh Patel. Mr. Patel also tweeted in Hindi saying, “Renowned artiste Paresh Rawal has been appointed as Chairman of National School of Drama by Rashtrapati Bhavan. I am glad that students and artistes will be able to take advantage of his talent. I congratulate him.”

 

Mr. Rawal who is 65 y/o has been appointed to the post for a period of four years. Paresh Rawal is a veteran of the Gujarati stage in addition to his long and successful film career. This post of chairman was vacant since 2017.
“It will be challenging but fun. I will do my best because this is a field I know very well, ” said Paresh Rawal while speaking to the news agency PTI.

Paresh Rawal, a former BJP parliamentarian, is known for his versatility and mind-blowing performances especially in films like Aakhein, Phir Hera Pheri, and OMG. His breakout role was in the 1985 film Arjun. He is also a recipient of the prestigious award: Padma Shri.

 

Speaking about NSD, it has an amazing alumni panel full of notable talented artists which include: Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Irrfan Khan, Surekha Sikri, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pankaj Kapur, Piyush Mishra, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohini Hattangadi, and Neena Gupta.
