On Tuesday, Union Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan was answering questions of multiple MPs on vaccination, including Shaktisinh Gohil and Sukhram Yadav. While answering a few, Dr. Vardhan mentioned that the Centre is trying to maintain ‘a sensible balance’ in sending the vaccines abroad. Dr. Vardhan said, “Vaccines are not being sent to other countries at the expense of Indians. Experts at the highest level and committees that the government has set up are maintaining a sensible balance about it.”

“About 30,39,394 people were vaccinated yesterday (Monday). We have touched a total vaccination figure of Rs. 3 crores,” Dr. Vardhan added during the session. “The whole world is a family… the whole mankind should benefit from the vaccine,” he further said. Vardhan also said that the government is treating the health sector in an overall manner.

The opposition party – Congress has been urging the central government to speed up the vaccine drive in the country for a while now. Yesterday, the party demanded that the government must reveal if it has a clear roadmap to complete the nationwide vaccination process in the span of one year.

According to Dr. Vardhan, the government has taken lot of efforts to deal with the pandemic and is ready for the coming future in order to deal with any such prospect. Referring to the data about the work in the sector, the union health minister said 157 medical colleges are under various stages of enactment across the country.

Dr. Vardhan said that so far just 3.5 crore people in the country have been vaccinated and around 5.74 crore doses were given to 72 countries.

About the Covid-19 numbers, the country has so far reported 11.4 million cases overall and almost 11 million have recovered. The fatality rate in India has reduces to 1.39% taking the overall deaths due to virus to 159 thousand.
