Tollywood actor Jayaprakash Reddy passes away at 74

The South Indian film industry today mourns the sudden demise of veteran actor Jaya Prakash Reddy,84. The reason of death is told to be cardiac arrest.He passed away at his residency in Guntur.

The actor was fondly called as JP in the industry and has delivered many successful characters both in the roles of a comedian and an antagonist. He was sometimes seen in roles which were an amalgamation of comedy and wrongful which also termed him as Tollywood’s favorite comic villain.

Mr. Reddy was born in Sirvel, of Kurnool district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India on the 10th of October 1946. His debut in the Telugu film industry was the 1988 film “Brahma Puthrudu”. He came into the limelight with the feature film Samarasimha Reddy where he played the role of Veera Raghava Reddy. His career boasts of 102 box office hits and many other movies which did a good business in the industry. His last movie was Mahesh Babu starrer Sarileru Neekevvaru which was released on 11th January 2020 in which he portrayed Nagendra (Prakash Raj’s) father. He was also renowned for taking up many unique and funny roles. One such performance was that of a brothel owner in the role reversal movie of Jamba Lakidi Pamba. His roles in other famous movies include Preminchukundam Raa, Narasimha Naidu, Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, Julayi, Ready, Kick, Jayam Manadera.

JP’s death is lamented by the entire film industry. Director-screenwriter Anil Ravipudi took to Twitter on how Reddy is “irreplaceable as an artist and a person”. He quoted,

“My travel with JP garu has always been special. He’s been a part of almost all my films. He treated me like one of his own and used to talk with lots of love. I will surely miss him dearly. Rest in peace sir. You are irreplaceable as an artist and a person.”

Other popular personalities including stars such as Jr NTR, Mahesh Babu, Sudheer Babu, Rana Daggubati, and many others took to social media to post their condolences.

Mahesh Babu wrote,

“Saddened by the passing of #JayaPrakashReddy garu. One of TFI’s finest actor-comedians. Will always cherish the experience of working with him. Heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.”

Rana Daggubati shared a picture of Jaya Prakash Reddy along with a few heart-breaking emoticons. B-town actresses like RakulPreet Singh and Genelia Deshmukh also expressed their grief and paid him homage with their tweets and mentioned about their early days in the career and the work experience which they shared with him.
