On Thursday, Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait said that people that will be stuck in Feb 6 “chakka jam” will be given food and water.

“There will be a three-hour-long ‘chakka jam’ on February 6. It won’t take place in Delhi but everywhere outside Delhi. The people that will be stuck in it will be given food and water. We will tell them what is the Govt doing with us,” Tikait said. When asked to comment on nails fixed near barricades at the Ghazipur border (Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border), “We were growing crops there and they (government) fixed nails”, he added.

While talking to the media, Tikait said that “On February 6, there was to be a three-hour-long cycle jam.” It happened in Delhi but everywhere outside Delhi. Food and water will be provided to those trapped in it. We will tell them what the government is doing to us.”

Reacting to the support of Rihanna, Greta over the farmers’ protest, Rakesh Tikait said that there is nothing wrong with Hollywood actors supporting the movement. “There is no harm in Hollywood actors supporting the farmers’ movement, I know them personally, but they are supporting them without any expectation. If Samyukta Kisan Morcha has thanked them, Kisan Union will do the same,” Rakesh Tikait added.

In a case of demonstrating the strength by protesting farmers on Wednesday, Tikait addressed a huge rally warning the government that it might be difficult to remain in power if the new agri-marketing laws are not repealed.

Just before Tikait’s speech at the “Mahapanchayat” in Kandela village, the peasant leaders had collapsed on the platform they and gathered. No one was hurt and Tikait went to address the gathering. But the episode created an uproar and he along with the organizers had to repeatedly ask people to stay calm.

Calling for the “wapsi” (withdrawal) of the new central laws, Tikait indirectly warned the Narendra Modi government that he could lose his “gaddi” (power) if the movement continued.
