Amid the growing protests in Sri Lanka, an emergency has been imposed in the country. On the other hand, on Sunday, the country saw a mass resignation of 26 cabinet ministers, except President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and PM Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has told reporters that all 26 ministers have resigned with immediate effect on Sunday during a meeting. He also said that all the resignation letters were submitted to the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka except President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and PM Mahinda Rajapaksa. The reason for the resignation of the cabinet ministers was not given.
Sri Lanka is going through the worst economic crisis it has ever seen. The people of the country, from the past several days, are facing shortage of necessary commodities including fuel and cooking gas.
