On Wednesday, November 25, a ban has been imposed on Bengaluru for slaughtering and selling of meat. On the occasion of Sadhu Vasvani Jayanthi, the ban order comes from the local civic body Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).The order bans the slaughter and sale of meat in BBMP limits for one day.

On Sunday, the BJP Karnataka’s unit tweeted that the state government will soon bring in a law against love jihad and cow slaughter. Opposition leader Siddaramaiah called the move BJP’s attempt to divert public attention from the government’s failures.

Former Minister and BJP national general secretary CT Ravi said on November 20 that cow slaughter will soon be a reality in Karnataka.

“Cow Slaughter Ban will be a reality in Karnataka in the near future. I have asked Animal Husbandry Minister Sri @PrabhuChavanBJP to get the ‘Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter & Preservation of Cattle Bill’ passed in the Cabinet and present the same in the upcoming Assembly Session,” the Chikkamagaluru MLA tweeted.

The BJP government has also formed a committee to implement a law against cow slaughter. The BJP state unit said that the law will be implemented in the next session of assembly.

The BJP’s state unit had recently tweeted that state president, Nalin Kumar Kateel had appealed and suggested that then government should ban cow slaughter. BJP national chief secretary C T Ravi held discussions with Prabhu Chauhan, state minister for animal husbandry in this regard.
