‘Ready to Offer Support’ to India’ – China reaches out for help amidst Covid-19 situation

India has been recording high number of Covid-19 cases since the last month and everyday is an unfortunate new world record of the cases and deaths. Amidst this, Nation’s have offered help to India for coping up with the pandemic and surprisingly, China is one of the countries.

China, on Thursday, said that it stood ready to provide India with necessary support and assistance to get the situation under control.

On Friday in Beijing, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told a media briefing that “for the recently deteriorating epidemic situation in India we send our sincere sympathies.”

“Based on the need for Indian side we stand ready to offer support and assistance. We are now holding communications with the Indian side,” Zhao Lijian said to a question on the pandemic situation in India, reported HT.

Zhao said China and the Chinese people were with India in its fight against the pandemic. “For the recently deteriorating epidemic situation in India we send our sincere sympathies. The Chinese government and the people firmly support the Indian government and their people in their fight,” Zhao added. “We believe the Indian people will surely conquer the epidemic at an early date.”

India recently, due to the shortage of Oxygen in the country is looking to import it from abroad, said the Union Health Ministry but, as HT reported, China was not among the countries India was looking to source oxygen from.

India has identified potential sources in Gulf and Singapore as.

Germany will be the first to send nearly two dozen oxygen generation plants.

France and the UK have also said they are prepared to import.  

The Russian offer for oxygen as well as remdesivir injections came on Friday when India registered the world’s highest daily tally of COVID-19 cases for the second consecutive day.
