With the Covid-19 numbers in India increasing to make a world record almost every day, countries have expressed their unanimity and support towards the country and some have even stretched a helping hand ahead.

Amidst this, on Saturday, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan expressed his solidarity too. He termed the Second Wave of the coronavirus pandemic as ‘Dangerous’ and also mentioned that the global challenge must be fought with, collectively.

“I want to express our solidarity with people of India as they battle a dangerous wave of #COVID19. Our prayers for speedy recovery go to all those suffering from pandemic in our neighborhood and world,” tweeted Mr. Khan.

“We must fight this global challenge confronting humanity together,” he added.

“If our circumstances become the same as India’s then we will have to close down cities,” Khan said, as reported by PTI. “If we (as a nation) don’t take precautionary measures, we will have to impose a lockdown which will also affect our economy at a time when it is on the rise,” Mr. Khan requested people to follow the Covid-19 protocols and measures in the country.

It was not just the Prime Minister but Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also stated support to the people of India. Qureshi said the COVID-19 crisis is the reminder of how every humanitarian issue stands above all the political considerations.

“We express our support to the people of India in the wake of the current wave of #COVID19 infections that has hit our region hard. On behalf of the people of Pakistan, I extend our heartfelt sympathies to the affected families in #India,” Mr Qureshi tweeted.

“Pakistan has officially offered India relief and support in the form of Ventilators, Bi PAP, Digital X-ray Machines, PPE’s and other related Items,” tweeted Qureshi.

“#COVID19 is yet another reminder that humanitarian issues require responses beyond political consideration. Pakistan continues to work with SAARC countries to foster cooperation to tackle the pandemic,” he added.

Another one from the same country, a philanthropic organization this time, Edhi Welfare Trust, on Thursday, had extended a helping hand. The Trust wrote to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi saying that it is ready to help India in fighting the second wave of the deadly Coronavirus. 50 Ambulances and Support Staff is what the Trust promised to send to India.

Just like others, Pakistan is also facing a rise in Covid-19 cases with several cities reporting a high positivity share.
