Online lectures to be continued for the next semester: Mumbai University

Due to the lockdown extended till January 31, all the degree colleges affiliated to Mumbai University have decided to continue with the online lectures for another semester. The colleges also added that even if the state asks them to refuse offline lectures, they will continue with a blended approach towards the academic year.

The authorities of colleges have also declared that lectures will be continued over online mode only. However, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, this academic year will have a combined approach of online and offline lectures.

A principal of a college in Charni road said that practicals, laboratory lectures and on-field assignments will be conducted offline on priority,

The principal said, “We are awaiting the guidelines from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the state Higher and Technical Education Department. We will give first priority to resume offline lectures for practicals, laboratory classes and field work.”

The principal of a Malad college said, “We will have 30 to 40 per cent lectures online even if we resume offline classes. Both students and professors have got a hang of virtual education by now, so we will continue this blended approach for this academic year.”

Ahead of the lockdown being extended till January 31,2021, the state government has refused to allow degree colleges and universities to conduct lectures on offline mode.
