The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized a huge consignment of high-quality ganja from Thane estimated to be worth Rs 4 crore. Four people have been arrested and two vehicles were seized for transporting 190 kgs of ganja.

The consignment was seized by NCB Mumbai zone officials on July 26 and 27. The four men, who were arrested, are alleged drug traffickers who have been supplying drugs to various parts of Mumbai, especially Mulund and Bhandup regions, for the last five years.

The drug law enforcement agency’s team received inputs from credible source that a syndicate was sketching an arrangement to pull off a delivery of a huge consignment sourced from the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha area.

The field operational team of NCB set out towards the routes they analysed and maintained a discreet cordon and waited for further instructions about the movement of the traffickers. In due time, the traffickers were tracked and identified to be moving towards Arjunali toll plaza, Padgha, Bhiwandi, Thane.

NCB personnel questioned the drivers about the goods inside their vehicles, but they did not give satisfactory replies. The officials found that ganja was carefully concealed among non-suspecting goods alongside the cavity. The drug consignment was seized and four persons were apprehended.

During interrogation, they admitted to being involved in an illicit drug trafficking business for the last 5 years. The accused persons were on the radar of the anti-drug agency for quite sometime, but had been evading arrest by using various methods like frequently changing mobile phones and also vehicles used to transport narcotics.
