Mumbai’s case positivity rate down to 7%; Recovery Rate reached 91% – BMC Data

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, of Monday, 10th May, showed that the Covid-19 positivity rate of Mumbai had reduced. 

Not just a decline in the Covid-19 cases was seen but the city also witnessed a drop in home quarantined citizens in the city.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data shows that there is a 16% drop from 627,000 persons who were home quarantined on April 10 to 525,000, as of May 07.

The daily positivity rate of Mumbai was as low as 7% on Sunday as compared to around 25% in the first week of April.

On April 6, 789 buildings and 9,785 floors were sealed while 617 buildings and 8,658 floors, were reported to be sealed as of May 6, as per the BMC data which is comparatively less.

The low positivity rate is one indication, as per the civic body officials, of the overall cases following a downward graph in the city.

Mumbai’s recovery rate has improved to 91% as the overall growth rate of Covid-19 cases between May 3 and May 9 stood at 0.41%. 

Not just this but the Active Containment zones have also been reduced to 87 from 100, a few days back. The city has 2,997 ICU beds, 1,521 ventilator beds, and 12,855 oxygen beds.

Mumbai city was the biggest contributor to the second wave of Coronavirus that began from February 10 in the state of Maharashtra by contributing over 85% of the cases.

Talking of the state, Maharashtra saw a slight decline in its Covid cases as the state reported 37,236 new cases in 24 hours, as of Monday.

The state also reported a decline in daily deaths on Monday recording 549 fatalities which is 23 less than Sunday.
