On Tuesday, Mukesh Ambani stepped down as the director of Reliance Jio, and his son, Akash Ambani was named as the chairman of the board. However, Mukesh Ambani will be the chairman of Jio Platforms Ltd. Jio Platforms Ltd is an umbrella consisting of all Jio digital services including Reliance Jio Infocomm.
At a meeting on June 27, in a stock exchange filing, Reliance Jio Infocomm said the company’s board that “approved the appointment of Akash M Ambani, non-executive director, as chairman of the board of directors of the company.” Beginning June 27, Pankaj Mohan Pawar was appointed as the Managing Director of the company for five years. It also added that Raminder Singh Gujral and KV Chowdhary were appointed as independent directors.
